UMTHOMBO WEBINAR LECTURE SERIES

THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF NON-HUMAN PRIMATES TO NEUROSCIENCE RESEARCH

A lecture by Dr Victoria Williams

In this webinar, Dr. Williams discussed the contributions of non-human primate models to human neuroscience research, but despite this, the ape brain has not been comprehensively examined in a comparative sense, including in humans. She thus examined the brain of two apes, the gibbon and chimpanzee, using neuroanatomical stains, and in the webinar, she reveals anatomical features that might be unique to Hominoidea (lesser and great apes, including humans) and the contributions to evolutionary neuroscience.
